In 1997, he moved to Portland and joined the Casey Eye Institute at OHSU where he worked until 2010. While there, he conducted the world’s largest study of intraocular lens implants in children following cataract surgery, and travelled extensively. He then relocated to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he worked for four years at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital. He received his ophthalmology training in Dallas at the University of Texas Southwestern and went on to a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and treatment of adult eye misalignment at the University of Iowa. He obtained his medical degree in 1988 from the University of California at San Diego and completed his internship at St. Wheeler is originally from New England and gradually worked his way west during his college years. Goodman is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
